On July 20, 1969, NASAs Apollo 11 mission successfully landed astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the Moon, while **Michael Collins** orbited above in the command module. Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the lunar surface, declaring, Thats one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. The mission demonstrated U.S. technological superiority during the Space Race, fulfilled President Kennedys goal, and inspired global awe. Apollo 11 paved the way for five more successful Moon landings through 1972. \n
