A first edition, first printing of �The White Spider� published by E P Dutton in 1960. A very good book with a small name and date to the front endpaper in a very good unclipped wrapper with some light wear and creasing to the spine foot and corners and a neat closed tear to the front panel. SIGNED to the title page by Kurt Diemberger. Kurt Diemberger is an Austrian mountaineer closely associated with the legend of the Eiger�s north face, known as �The White Spider�. Though Heinrich Harrer made the face famous in his book, Diemberger later climbed the Eiger himself and wrote vividly about its dangers and history. A survivor of major Himalayan tragedies, Diemberger represents the reflective, storytelling tradition of post-war alpinism, blending extreme experience with literary insight.
