Hard board book and rare to find. Full numberline 1-9 the same format as the Macmillan first edition, but bound in original green cloth, lettering to spine in gilt, illustration to front cover in silver surrounding mounted colour illustration, vignette to rear cover in gilt, illustrated endpapers. Housed in the original pictorial slipcase. Colour illustrations throughout by Axel Scheffler. Extremities of slipcase slightly rubbed with a little lifting. �The Gruffalo�s Child�: A near fine book. In near fine slip case. In �The Gruffalo�, Scheffler has signed his name Axel Scheffler/Edinburgh/24.8.24 to the title page, accompanied by a small illustration of the mouse �making off� with the nut. Similarly, signed, located and dated in �The Gruffalo�s Child� with an illustration of �The Gruffalo�s Child�. Scarce with these signed attributes.
