In a near fine unclipped wrapper with chipping to foot of rear flap fold. Wrapper illustration by Irene von Treskow. Ratking by Michael Dibdin is a gritty crime novel set in Perugia, introducing investigator Aurelio Zen. When a wealthy industrialist is kidnapped, Zen uncovers a web of corruption involving family secrets, political influence and organised crime. Blending procedural detail with social satire, the novel critiques Italys bureaucracy and moral compromises. Atmospheric and ironic, Ratking is less about justice than survival in a system where power routinely outweighs truth.
